Clemson’s star player earns Tiger of the Week
After a slow start, Clemson put on an impressive display on Saturday, overpowering Virginia with a final score of 48-31.
While the victory was a true team effort, one player stood out above the rest: Antonio Williams. His versatility and playmaking ability were on full display, making him the clear choice for Tiger of the Week.
Williams racked up 104 all-purpose yards against the Cavaliers, showcasing his ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game. Of those yards, only 44 came from three receptions, highlighting his unconventional impact as a wide receiver.
Notably, he scored a touchdown on a 36-yard jet sweep, demonstrating his speed and agility in the open field. But it didn’t stop there; on the very next play, Williams showcased his arm strength with a 34-yard reverse pass to Troy Stellato that nearly resulted in another touchdown.
Clemson has lacked a player with the ability to dominate in such varied ways this season, making Williams’ performance all the more significant.
If the coaching staff continues to utilize him in creative ways—similar to how the San Francisco 49ers employ Deebo Samuel—it could not only enhance the Tigers’ offensive capabilities but also elevate Williams’ draft stock as a multi-dimensional threat.
As Clemson looks to build on this momentum, the spotlight will certainly be on Williams. His ability to impact the game through rushing, receiving, and even passing presents a unique opportunity for the Tigers to diversify their offense and keep defenses guessing. With performances like this, Williams is establishing himself as a key player to watch for the remainder of the season.
