Jack White speaks on why he donates $15k to bartender injured in street-racing hit-and-run

 

Over the weekend, Cara Corder, a 33-year-old Milwaukee resident, suffered severe injuries in a hit-and-run incident linked to illegal street racing in Bay View. The accident occurred on S. Kinnickinnic Ave. near East Ruske Ave., leaving Corder lying in the road as the two vehicles involved sped away. She remains hospitalized as friends and family hold onto hope for her recovery.

Milwaukee Police are actively investigating the incident, confirming that two cars were racing when one struck Corder while she was crossing the street. Both drivers fled the scene, prompting an appeal for information from the community.

In response to the incident, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to support Corder’s recovery. The fundraising effort

has been met with an outpouring of generosity, raising over $84,000 as of Tuesday morning. A significant contribution of $15,000 came from none other than Jack White, the lead singer of the White Stripes, highlighting the impact Corder has made on those around her.

Corder’s friend, Schulist, emphasized her hardworking nature, noting, “She’s one of the hardest working people I know.” Alongside her role at the Vanguard, Corder is known for hosting art shows and consistently supporting her loved ones, making her well-respected and cherished within her community.
