Hamlin, Truex Jr. begin talks on potential 2025Part-Time Racing with….
Martin Truex Jr. has announced plans to step away from full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing after the 2024 season, but his future in the sport may not be over. After the news broke, Truex was approached by Denny Hamlin, who offered him a part-time ride with 23XI Racing in 2025, beginning with the Daytona 500.
While it started as an off-the-cuff comment, Hamlin’s offer is now turning into a real possibility. “A few things to figure out, but it seems like we will be able to do some
For Hamlin, the key is providing a competitive car. “Anything that we did, we wouldn’t half-ass anything,” Hamlin noted, emphasizing that the team would be committed to winning if Truex joins the fold.
Truex has long sought a Daytona 500 victory, and Hamlin, who won the 2016 race with Truex finishing second, sees the potential for a major win. If Truex were to win the Daytona 500 in 2025, it could change his plans, but Hamlin believes it’s unlikely Truex would return full-time.
In the meantime, Truex is focused on defending his victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend, where he took home the Lobster Trophy in 2023. While he hasn’t finalized his 2025 schedule, a return to Loudon could be in the cards if he decides to race part-time next season.
