A British Airways employee claimed that Oasis singer Liam Gallagher assaulted her by grabbing her buttocks as she checked him onto a flight at London’s Gatwick Airport last Friday.
Gallagher was en route to Rio de Janeiro, where his band was to perform at the Rock in Rio concert, when he allegedly made a rude gesture towards the thirty-year-old flight attendant and grabbed her posterior prior to boarding his flight in the north terminal. The flight attendant has since filed a complaint to the airline as well as to the Sussex police, who are opening an investigation into the matter. At press time, a spokesperson for the band said she was unaware of the incident.
This isn’t Gallagher’s first tangle with an airline. Two years ago, while drunk, he threw food and other objects at fellow Cathay Pacific passengers during a flight from Hong Kong to Australia. The captain left the cockpit to intervene, threatening to handcuff the singer to his seat, divert the plane and throw off his thirty-person entourage. Cathay Pacific subsequently banned the Gallagher and his brother Noel from flying on their planes.
Liam Gallagher Accused of Assaulting Flight Attendant at Gatwick Airport
Liam Gallagher, the lead singer of Oasis, has been accused of assaulting a British Airways employee at London’s Gatwick Airport last Friday, sparking a police investigation. The incident allegedly occurred while the 51-year-old rocker was checking in for a flight to Rio de Janeiro, where his band was scheduled to perform at the Rock in Rio festival. The thirty-year-old flight attendant claims that Gallagher grabbed her buttocks as she was assisting him with his boarding process at the north terminal.
The flight attendant immediately filed a formal complaint with both British Airways and the Sussex police, who have now launched an inquiry into the incident. A spokesperson for the band, however, stated that Gallagher was unaware of any such occurrence.
This is not Gallagher’s first encounter with controversy while traveling. Two years ago, the singer was involved in a disruptive altercation on a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong to Australia. Reports suggest that an intoxicated Gallagher threw food and other objects at fellow passengers, prompting the captain to leave the cockpit and threaten to handcuff him. The airline banned both Liam and his brother Noel from future flights after the incident.
As the investigation unfolds, it remains unclear what further consequences Gallagher may face from the airline or law enforcement.
