As the 2024 Supercross season comes to a close, up-and-coming rider Haiden Deegan is already looking ahead to the future. The young phenom has been training hard with none other than Eli Tomac, one of the most successful riders in the sport, in preparation for the 2025 250SX season.
Deegan, who turned 18 just a few weeks ago, has been making waves in the amateur ranks and has already made his professional debut in the 250SX class. With a impressive list of amateur titles under his belt, Deegan is looking to make a name for himself in the pro ranks.
Tomac, a three-time Supercross champion and current Yamaha Factory Racing team rider, has been a mentor to Deegan throughout his career. The two have been training together at Tomac’s private track in Florida, working on specific skills and techniques to help Deegan improve his overall riding.
“We’ve been working on some specific areas of my riding, like my starts and my cornering,” Deegan explained. “Eli’s been really helping me with my technique and giving me some tips on how to improve. He’s been a huge help and I’m grateful to have him as a mentor.”
Tomac, who has won numerous championships at every level of racing, has been impressed with Deegan’s natural talent and dedication.
“Haiden’s got a lot of potential and he’s been putting in the work,” Tomac said. “I’m happy to be able to help him out and share some of my knowledge with him. He’s got a great attitude and I think he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future.”
The training sessions between Deegan and Tomac have been intense, with both riders pushing each other to be their best. Deegan has been working on his starts, cornering, and jumps, while Tomac has been helping him refine his overall riding style.
“It’s been tough, but it’s been worth it,” Deegan said. “Eli’s pushing me hard and making me work for everything. I feel like I’ve improved a lot since we started training together.”
Deegan will make his first start in the 2025 250SX season at the Anaheim 1 opener on January 7th. With Tomac’s guidance and support, he’ll be looking to make a strong impression on the racing world.
“Being able to train with Eli is an honor,” Deegan said. “I’m excited to get back out there and show everyone what I’m capable of. With Eli’s help, I think I can make some noise in the 250SX class next year.”
