Ducati Team Ready for 2025: Managing Champions with Collaboration and Respect.
At the picturesque setting of Madonna di Campiglio, Ducati unveiled its plans for the upcoming MotoGP season. Amid the snow-covered backdrop, team manager Davide Tardozzi shared insights into the challenges and opportunities of managing two of MotoGP’s brightest stars, reigning world champion Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia and the legendary Marc Márquez.
Speaking about the dynamic between the two riders, Tardozzi expressed confidence in their mutual respect and ability to collaborate. “When you have two guys so intelligent, as well as fast riders, it is much easier to manage them,” he remarked. While his longstanding relationship with Bagnaia provides familiarity, Tardozzi is still getting to know Márquez, who joined the Borgo Panigale outfit this year. Despite this, he is already impressed by the Spaniard’s seamless integration into the team. Márquez has shown remarkable humility and a willingness to adapt, working closely with Bagnaia in a way that underscores their shared commitment to Ducati’s goals.
The potential for rivalry between Bagnaia and Márquez naturally arose during discussions, given the fierce competitiveness that defines MotoGP. However, Tardozzi dismissed concerns of conflict, emphasizing that both riders share an understanding of the greater good. “The track will reveal the results, and we are prepared to support both riders equally,” he stated. The focus remains on teamwork, even as the team prepares meticulously for the challenges of the 2025 season and beyond, with significant attention directed toward engine development for 2026.
Tardozzi also took the opportunity to address comparisons between Bagnaia and MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi. While Rossi’s influence on Italian motorsport is undeniable, Tardozzi clarified that Bagnaia is charting his own path. “Pecco is Pecco; he is not Valentino,” he said. Bagnaia’s personality and independent approach, combined with his undeniable skill, have established him as a champion in his own right.
As for Márquez, Tardozzi praised his humility and eagerness to learn, despite his status as an eight-time world champion. “Marc’s humility surprised me. He doesn’t have two faces,” Tardozzi said, highlighting Márquez’s transparent and respectful attitude toward the team and Bagnaia.
Looking ahead, Tardozzi expressed confidence in Ducati’s competitiveness while showing respect for their rivals. He acknowledged the strength of competitors such as KTM, Aprilia, and rising star Pedro Acosta, emphasizing the importance of maintaining respect in a sport defined by fierce rivalries.
Despite KTM’s recent struggles, Tardozzi extended empathy to their team, recognizing the impact on workers. “It’s a shame for the workers who stayed home,” he remarked, adding that healthy competition benefits the entire sport.
As the season approaches, Ducati is poised for success, driven by collaboration, innovation, and an unwavering respect for the competition.
