Haiden Deegan Returns to Training with Gareth Swanepoel in Pursuit of West Coast Supercross Title

 

In a recent development, Star Racing Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan has made a shift in his training approach, announcing that he is no longer working with Christian Craig individually.

Instead, he has returned to his former training program under the guidance of renowned former GP rider Gareth Swanepoel. The move comes as Deegan looks to regain the form and dominance necessary to contend for the title in the competitive West Coast Supercross series.

Speaking candidly to Lewis Phillips, Deegan explained his decision: “I’m back working with Swanie. Back to my old program. I tried something and, no hate to anybody, I just didn’t feel like it fit me as good as it should and that’s kind of what the team thought. So back training with Swanie and I am feeling good.”

Deegan, a rising star in Supercross, has always shown potential and remarkable speed. However, he felt that his previous

training setup wasn’t aligning with his natural strengths and goals. The decision to return to Swanepoel’s coaching program is a reflection of his desire to tap into the same level of success that has driven his earlier career victories.

“I had two weeks to really work hard and I want to win really bad,” Deegan added. “It’s pretty much what I told Swanie: I will do anything at this point to get back to where I was, winning and dominant.”

Swanepoel, who has a strong track record of developing riders and enhancing their competitive edge, is known for tailoring training methods that allow athletes to peak at the right time. The decision to return to his training program signals Deegan’s commitment to reclaiming his place at the top of the Supercross leaderboard.
