Elvis Presley’s Facelifts, Webbed Toes, and Dyed Hair: Family Reveals the Hidden Details of The King’s Look

Elvis Presley, the undisputed King of Rock and Roll, was adored not only for his musical genius but also for his iconic looks — the smoldering eyes, chiseled jawline, and signature jet-black hair. But behind the legendary image was a man who, despite his natural charisma, wasn’t afraid to tweak and polish his appearance. Now, some of those closely connected to Elvis are shedding new light on the cosmetic secrets he kept behind closed doors.

A Facelift Fit for a King

Danny Smith, son of Billy Smith — Elvis’s cousin and one of the original Memphis Mafia members — recently revealed on his YouTube channel *Memphis Mafia Kid* that Elvis underwent facial procedures, including a facelift and work around his eyes. According to Danny, his own parents had accompanied Elvis for at least one of the procedures, which took place in Memphis.

“Elvis had…I guess you could say facelift procedure done to his face and his eyes,” Danny shared. “I was talking to Mom and Dad about this the other night and verified it. So he did have a few things done. In my opinion, I don’t see how something that is almost perfect needs to be messed with.”

Billy Smith, now the last surviving original member of the Memphis Mafia, backed up the account, explaining that Elvis always aimed to improve his appearance. “He thought it made him look better and that he needed it,” Billy said. “Elvis always tried to improve his looks.”

Elvis reportedly had at least two facelifts — one in 1957 and another in 1975. The first wasn’t technically a facelift by today’s standards but a rhinoplasty of sorts. Billy recalled that Elvis was self-conscious about the width of his nose flare and had it subtly reduced. “I don’t know how you can look any better, but he did,” he added.

Dental Work and Mole Removal

Cosmetic surgery didn’t stop at his facial structure. Elvis also had caps put on his teeth and had several moles removed to refine his image. These tweaks, though relatively minor, were part of a broader personal commitment to looking his best — a priority that he carried through every stage of his stardom.

The Jet-Black Hair Secret

One of Elvis’s most recognizable traits was his dark, slicked-back hair. But few realize it wasn’t natural. Born a sandy blond, Elvis began dyeing his hair jet black early in his career

— a decision influenced by advice that the darker color would make his piercing blue eyes stand out even more. The dye job became part of his signature look.

Linda Thompson, Elvis’s longtime girlfriend who lived with him at Graceland from 1972 to 1976, confirmed the detail, saying he was aware of how much contrast could enhance his features.

Rumors and Realities

While cosmetic enhancement among celebrities is no longer taboo, Elvis’s era was different. Such details were kept hidden, tucked away from the public image carefully crafted by managers and media. But those who were closest to Elvis now speak freely, not to scandalize, but to humanize the man behind the myth.

Though whispers have occasionally surfaced about other peculiarities — such as rumors of Presley having webbed toes — there is no confirmed medical documentation to back that claim. Still, the mix of myth, mystery, and meticulous self-care only deepens the intrigue surrounding one of the most iconic figures in music history.

Whether it was rhinoplasty, dental caps, or the famous black hair dye, Elvis Presley’s commitment to his image was yet another layer of his larger-than-life persona. Nearly five decades after his passing, the fascination with The King remains as alive as ever — not just because of what he gave to music, but also because of who he was beneath the surface.
