Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro Reunite Post-Met Gala Amid Quiet Romance

Although Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro didn’t walk the 2025 Met Gala red carpet together, their subtle reunion afterward added fuel to their quietly budding romance. The pair, both dressed in relaxed post-event outfits, were spotted together at The Mark Hotel on the evening of May 5, shortly after fashion’s biggest night wrapped.

Captured on video by Cosmopolitan, the moment showed Garfield, 41, casually dressed in a black graphic tee, a blue button-down shirt, slacks, and a baseball cap, waiting patiently outside the upscale hotel. He flashed a warm smile as Barbaro, 34, arrived in a different ensemble than the one she had worn earlier to the gala. The Tick, Tick… Boom! actor greeted her with a hug, showcasing a gentle affection that fans of the couple have grown curious about since their relationship first made headlines.

Barbaro, known for her roles in Top Gun: Maverick and A Complete Unknown, switched from her structured Met Gala attire into a more ethereal black embroidered tulle gown from Dior’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection, accessorized with a classic black Lady Dior bag. Her original gala look — a reimagining of Dior’s iconic 1947 “New Look” — featured a crisp white jacket over a pleated black tulle skirt, complemented by black gloves and a boater hat. The ensemble marked a stylish and striking debut for Barbaro at the annual Met Gala.

Garfield, who hasn’t graced the Met steps since 2019, remained behind the scenes this year but was clearly present in spirit — and just a few blocks away.

The pair’s relationship was first confirmed by PEOPLE on February 21, with a source noting that Garfield and Barbaro had “been really lowkey and have been spending time together quietly.” The actors have since been spotted at multiple events, including a post-Oscars bash hosted by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and a January pre-Awards season party by W Magazine, where they mingled with Eddie Redmayne and other industry figures.

Earlier this year, the couple was also seen attending a London West End performance of Richard II, starring Jonathan Bailey. Social media footage from February 20 showed the duo in casual outfits, chatting comfortably before the curtain rose.

Though they continue to keep their relationship largely under wraps, moments like their Met Gala reunion suggest that Garfield and Barbaro are enjoying each other’s company — quietly, but unmistakably.
