Official: Eagles hire new defensive coordinator and give reason why
What was originally reported on Wednesday is now confirmed: The Philadelphia Eagles have officially announced the hiring of Vic Fangio as their new defensive coordinator.The team released the following statement from Nick Sirianni:”Vic’s reputation obviously speaks for itself.
He is an excellent defender who has coached at a very high level in this league for many years. During my time with Vic, I has Seen firsthand what makes him such a great coach. – a huge knowledge of the game, passion and work ethic. I’m excited for our coaches and players to learn from him and see it for themselves..Fangio, as we know, was the the Eagles’ preferred DC candidate to replace Jonathan Gannon last year. Instead, they reached out to Sean Desai (whom they later demoted to promote Matt Patricia) when Fangio joined the Miami Dolphins.
But after just a year in Florida, Fangio is returning to his home state of Pennsylvania. Here’s his record: 4,444 4,444 4,444 The team expects Fangio to improve an Eagles defense that ranked 29th in DVOA, 29th in EPA per game and 30th in offense in 2023. Fangio clearly needs Howie’s help.
