What Happened on ‘American Idol’ Last Night?

The May 12 episode marked the second night of a Disney Week special, where each of the Top 5 contestants performed two beloved songs from the iconic Disney catalog. The theme brought not just vocal fireworks but a deep emotional layer, with contestants taking family members on heartwarming trips to Disneyland and dedicating songs to loved ones.
Guided by guest mentor Lin-Manuel Miranda, the contestants poured their hearts into the stage, with judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie offering both praise and pointed critiques.
