Congratulaions as Ken Roczen has been awared the Oakley Bomb Awards
The third round of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, held last Saturday in Blountville, Tennessee, was a standout event, introducing several new specialty awards that highlighted the competitive spirit of the riders.
One of the main highlights was the Oakley Bomb Fastest Lap Program, designed to recognize the quickest riders in both the 450 and 250 Classes during timed practice. In the 450 Class, Josh Grant from Toyota/JGR/Yamaha clinched the top qualifying spot with an impressive lap time of 2:03.4, marking his first Oakley Bomb Award of the season. In the 250 Class, Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen not only secured his first Oakley Bomb Award but also posted the fastest overall lap time of the day at 2:02.0. Each winner received a unique Oakley Bomb trophy and earned a point towards the overall Fastest Lap Program standings, which will culminate at the end of the season.

This season also saw the introduction of the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot Championship, which awards points to the riders who earn the holeshot in each moto. The new format adds an exciting layer to the competition, with one point for the Moto 1 holeshot and two for Moto 2. A rider who claims both holeshots in a day earns a bonus point, totaling up to four points available. The champions of this mini-series will receive significant cash prizes, with $25,000 for the 450 Class winner and $15,000 for the 250 Class winner.
In the 450 Class, Ryan Villopoto of Monster Energy Kawasaki claimed his first Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot of the season in Moto 1, ultimately taking the win. In Moto 2, Justin Barcia from Team Honda Muscle Milk earned the holeshot, increasing his lead in the Holeshot Championship with a total of six points. James Stewart from Yoshimura Suzuki trails with four points, while Villopoto sits at one.
As the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship continues, the introduction of these awards and the fierce competition among riders promise an exhilarating season ahead, keeping fans engaged and eager for the next round.
