Congratulations as Auburn Basketball Remains Unstoppable at No. 1 in AP Poll for Seventh Consecutive Week
For the seventh week in a row, the Auburn basketball team has earned the coveted No. 1 ranking in the Associated Press (AP) Poll, marking another historic achievement for the program. This week’s ranking extends Auburn’s record for the most consecutive weeks at the top of the poll, surpassing the previous program record of three straight weeks held by the 2021-22 Auburn team.
Auburn’s dominance is further underscored by the fact that they are the unanimous No. 1 in this week’s poll, following a rare stray vote cast for the Florida Gators last week. Additionally, the Tigers remain atop the coaches’ poll, securing their place as the premier team in college basketball. Their continued excellence in the polls also sets them apart in SEC history, as Auburn is now the only program, besides Kentucky, to sustain a No. 1 ranking for such an extended period.
While Auburn stayed firmly in the top spot, other programs are pushing hard for their place at the top. Duke’s dominant 110-67 victory over Illinois catapulted the Blue Devils back to No. 2, while Florida dropped to No. 3 despite a convincing 79-65 win over LSU. Houston moved up one spot to No. 4 following a win against Iowa State, and Tennessee, after a road victory over Texas A&M, reentered the top five.
In a bit of a shakeup, Alabama’s rollercoaster week resulted in a two-spot drop to No. 6. The Crimson Tide lost a midweek
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) continues to be a dominant force in college basketball this season. This week, a record eight SEC teams are ranked in the AP Poll, with three of Auburn’s final four opponents also in the Top 25. The only unranked team on Auburn’s upcoming schedule, Ole Miss, fell out of the poll after a loss to Vanderbilt.
Looking ahead, the Tigers face a challenging two weeks before heading into the SEC Tournament next month. The remaining games on Auburn’s schedule will not only be crucial for their pursuit of an SEC regular-season title but also for locking in the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Bruce Pearl and his squad will have to navigate tough competition as they close out their regular season and prepare for the postseason, where the stakes could not be higher.
As the final stretch of the season approaches, Auburn’s place at the top of the rankings has solidified their position as a championship contender, and their performance over the next few weeks will determine just how high they can go. The Tigers have already written their names in the history books—now, they look to add even more chapters to their remarkable season.
