Exciting update, close finishes at Carlisle Pool League

This week’s Thursday Pool League event in Carlisle was fronted by multiple World Champion Dave Causier.
He is coming. to the QZone on Saturday to showcase his skills on the show and try to beat his club record of 619 at the 2021 British Open.
All the local players are looking forward to it and anyone who wants it. can turn up in the evening at a discounted rate of £10.
Last night was a ten hour match and again saw some very tight and tight spots.
Next but a quick thank you to Brian Makepeace and Peter Milburn who are both regular Tuesday snooker/pool players .
They only came to watch, but decided to participate and referee every game. No doubt the referee will buy two or three minutes of “extra time” for both players just by taking balls and scoring!
Dave Midgely played his InterQzone teammate Michael Waring where both played to their strengths. combinations of pool and excellent hitting.
Michael started well in the handicap system and early on he was able to maintain and increase his lead using a double shot safety game while Dave struggled to collect breaks. .
When Dave started, he made breaks of 27, 18 and 21, which put him eight points ahead of Michael.
With 30 seconds left, Michael missed the red and pocketed it, and Dave quickly hit it. , followed by six points and then hit a two-point cannon just before the end of the game. Both players were happy with the game ending in a 310-310 draw,
Paul Heslop won his match by two points last week and went even closer this time, winning by just one point against Stuart Burgess! 259 vs 258. No big breaks, but again it was a fun and exciting end to the match.
The ties really messed up with some key players losing points. Peter Stanyer remained undefeated, but in another tight end, Mark Taylor pushed him to the post with three points – 264-261. Mark had 32, Peter 27 and 24.
Good to see Peter Dean come away with a point, despite losing an ace in Nigel Lewthwaite.
Nigel had 100 points. With breaks of 21, 23, 36 and 42, he won the well-deserved bonus with a score of 327. Peter received a score of 301, just enough to grab the bonus point.
The match between John Metcalfe and Ian Cleminson was a game of two halves. In the first half hour, John could not buy a point anywhere and he also struggled with shots.
Ian played very well, constantly making breaks in his teenage years and in 20 breaks and 25 minutes he had 83 points. before ” a shot that never came , and so John won 325 to 318, but both players got extra points over 300.
Paul Cowing had a strong 127 handicap to beat Archie Walker, Paul had 33 and 22 but regularly shot 286. on his way to :223 to win
The unbeaten Neill Walby took on David Turley and again it was a very close game. David finally moderated the victory line by only six points – 263:257.
The Rock’s teammates Paul Scott and Simon Elston played against each other in Battle of the Clowns. Both players had high scores as Paul went 347-283.
Wednesday also featured two matches as Paul Whelan had two matches against Neil Walby and John Metcalfe.
First match with Neil. He fought to regain the handicap start and with a good shot Neil was able to win 270-257. They had breaks of 22 and Paul had 24 and 27.
In the second game against John Metcalfe, Paul had breaks of 24 and 36 to quickly regain parity and extend it before John had 24 and 32 breaks. to seal the opening slightly. But in the end it wasn’t enough, as Paul was in top form and won 323-248..
