Francesco Bagnaia shocking Apology for Comments After Aragon GP Collision with Álex Márquez
Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning MotoGP champion, has publicly apologized for his strong comments following a dramatic collision with Álex Márquez during the Aragon Grand Prix last Sunday.
The incident occurred just six laps from the finish, with both riders battling fiercely for third place when Bagnaia’s Ducati collided with Márquez’s Gresini machine, forcing Bagnaia to retire from the race.
Immediately after the incident, Bagnaia expressed his frustration and accused Márquez of intentionally causing the crash. However, the Italian rider has since walked back those accusations, admitting that his initial reaction was too harsh. In a press conference,
While Bagnaia acknowledged that his words were excessive, he still stood by his assessment of the racing incident itself, citing Márquez’s aggressive defense as a key factor.
*“His defense was a bit aggressive, which is normal when you’re fighting for podium positions. I still think the same about the incident, but I realize my words were too strong, and for that, I apologize,”** Bagnaia added.
When asked about when he realized the need to apologize, Bagnaia explained, **“That same evening, when I had calmed down and was less angry, I reflected on what I said. It was clear that he didn’t do it on purpose. I’m saying sorry because my words were too strong and unfair to Álex.”**
The apology comes as a step toward easing tensions between the two riders, who have often found themselves in tight competition on the track. Bagnaia’s candid reflection highlights the emotional intensity of MotoGP racing, where high stakes can sometimes lead to heated reactions.
