Francesco Bagnaia’s Busy Day at Misano: Balancing Immediate Needs with Future Development
Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning MotoGP champion, had a notably packed schedule during the recent test session at Misano. While many riders focused on immediate solutions for the current season, Bagnaia took a more comprehensive approach, looking both at enhancements for upcoming races and long-term improvements for 2025.
Bagnaia, who has dominated the 2022 and 2023 seasons, emphasized his dual focus. Although he acknowledged that teammates Jorge Martín and Enea Bastianini tested new fairing components with positive results, Bagnaia chose to concentrate on different areas.
“I worked a lot for 2025. I didn’t try the fairing; I know that Martín and Bestia tried it, and they were happy. But I was very, very focused on different things, because our bike still needs something to be better,” he said.
His attention was directed towards the bike’s electronics, an area he believes holds significant potential for future improvements. “Unfortunately, it’s something that
But it’s a good thing; I think we have more margin to work, more margin with the acceleration, and it’s something good,” Bagnaia explained.
Despite the promising developments, Bagnaia is not entirely ruling out updates for the remainder of the season. He noted that the recent tests revealed that lap times were consistent regardless of tire conditions, but he remains optimistic.
“It was difficult to understand something in the test, because with used or new tyres, the lap time was similar. But I think it’s a good thing and I liked it. Maybe for the last races, for the overseas, we will have something that will help,” he added.
In summary, while Bagnaia’s immediate focus might have been on future developments rather than the current season, his proactive approach to refining both short-term and long-term aspects of the Ducati bike demonstrates his commitment to maintaining a competitive edge.
The forthcoming races, particularly those in Asia, may benefit from some of these new insights and developments as the team continues to evolve.
