Franco Morbidelli’s Revival with Pramac Ducati: Aiming for the Top

Franco Morbidelli, renowned for his impressive runner-up finish in the 2020 MotoGP season, is embarking on a new chapter in his career with Pramac Racing.

After a challenging period with Yamaha, Morbidelli has transitioned to the Ducati Desmosedici GP24, a bike that has demonstrated its formidable potential through the performances of Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martín.

Morbidelli has expressed his admiration for Bagnaia and Martín, recognizing them as the current benchmarks in the premier class. In an interview with Motosan.es, he emphasized the importance of learning from the best.

“You have to look at what the best are doing. Bagnaia and Jorge are the best in the category and in Ducati,

and they do very well in every practice, every session, every qualifying, every race, every Sprint… so I look very closely at what they do.”

Despite his clear potential and past successes, Morbidelli’s 2024 season has been a mixed bag so far. After 11 Grands Prix, he finds himself in 11th place in the championship standings, with a fifth-place finish being his highest result. The setback began early in the year when a significant accident in January forced him to miss the entire preseason. This absence has undeniably hindered his ability to adapt swiftly to the Pramac team and the Ducati Desmosedici GP24.

As Morbidelli continues to acclimate to his new team and bike, his performance is expected to improve. With the Ducati’s demonstrated capabilities and Morbidelli’s track record of top-tier results, the potential for a strong comeback remains high.
