Green Day set to make History as declare date and activities for first ever Malaysia show
American rock legends Green Day are set to make history with their first-ever concert in Malaysia. As part of their Saviors Tour, the band will perform at the National Hockey Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on 18 February 2025.
This concert marks a significant milestone for the group, who are making their debut in the Southeast Asian country.
This announcement follows Green Day’s plans to expand their global reach. The band has also scheduled their inaugural show in the Middle East, set to take place at the 30,000-capacity Expo City Dubai on 27 January 2025.
Additionally, Green Day will be visiting South Africa, with performances
In the lead-up to their Malaysian debut, Green Day will be performing across Asia, including a show at Carnaval Ancol in Jakarta, Indonesia on 15 February 2025. The tour will then continue through Japan, with stops at Osaka-Jo Hall on 21 February, Port Messe Nagoya on 23 February, and K Arena Yokohama on 25-26 February.
Malaysia is gearing up to host several major international acts before the end of 2024. Bruno Mars will perform at Kuala Lumpur’s National Stadium on 17 September, while Imagine Dragons will take the stage at the National Hockey Stadium on 21 November. Dua Lipa is also scheduled to perform at Axiata Arena on 23-24 November.
This news comes after the cancellation of the Good Vibes Festival earlier this summer, which was postponed out of respect for the coronation of Malaysia’s king.
The festival, originally slated for July, faced controversy last year following The 1975’s performance and subsequent remarks on the country’s anti-LGBT laws, leading to legal action against the band by organiser Future Sound Asia.
The lawsuit, filed in the UK’s High Court, seeks £1.9 million ($2.4 million) in damages for alleged violations of performance rules.
Green Day’s Malaysian debut is highly anticipated and represents a significant addition to the country’s growing list of major international events.
