Guns N’ Roses Announce Departure of Longtime Drummer Frank Ferrer: “The band thanks Frank”
Guns N’ Roses have officially announced the departure of Frank Ferrer, the band’s longest-serving drummer, who had been with them since 2006. In a statement, the legendary rock group expressed their gratitude for Ferrer’s 19 years of dedication, creativity, and friendship. “The band thanks Frank for his friendship, creativity, and sturdy presence over the past 19 years, and they wish him success in the next chapter of his musical journey,” said the band.
Ferrer, who became a cornerstone of the band’s rhythm section, first joined Guns N’ Roses after an extensive musical career. Before his tenure with the rock giants, Ferrer was known for his work with Love Spit Love, a project led by Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs. He had recorded two albums with the group, and he also spent time as the live drummer for the Psychedelic Furs. Ferrer was also involved with The Compulsions, a New York-based rock band featuring Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus, and former Hanoi Rocks bassist Sammi Yaffa.
Ferrer’s journey with Guns N’ Roses began in 2006, when he was called in to fill in for drummer Bryan “Brain” Mantia, who had to leave the band briefly for a personal matter. Ferrer’s first performance with the band took place at the Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium on June 24, 2006. Just four months later, Ferrer became an official member of Guns N’ Roses, and he remained with the band ever since, contributing to their live shows and studio recordings.
Reflecting on his time with the band, Ferrer once shared his deep sense of belonging with Guns N’ Roses. In a 2015 interview with Guns N’ Roses fansite *Paradise City*, Ferrer spoke fondly of his place in the band, particularly as the lineup began to evolve. “I feel like I’m
Ferrer’s departure marks the end of an era for Guns N’ Roses, but the band has not yet announced a replacement drummer. Their next live performance is scheduled for May 1, 2025, at Songdo Moonlight Park in Incheon, South Korea, leaving fans eagerly awaiting updates on who will take the reins behind the kit.
As the band prepares for the next chapter of their storied legacy, fans will no doubt remember Ferrer’s contributions to the sound and spirit of Guns N’ Roses over nearly two decades. The music of Guns N’ Roses, with its blend of raw energy and timeless rock anthems, will forever be part of Ferrer’s lasting legacy in the world of rock and roll.
