Haiden Deegan Reflects on his falls and Whoops Section Fall in San Diego Supercross Heat 2
Star Racing Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan opened up about his recent setback during Heat 2 of the San Diego Supercross, where he went down in the challenging whoops section while chasing his teammates Michael Mosiman and Cole Davies. Despite the fall, Deegan was lucky to escape injury and managed to finish the race, showing resilience and composure under pressure.
Deegan’s crash came in a section known for catching even the most seasoned riders off guard. As he pursued Mosiman and Davies, the young rider’s front end slipped in the whoops, sending him down. However, Deegan’s quick recovery and determination ensured he wasn’t out for long, allowing him to remount and continue his charge through the remainder of the heat.
Reflecting on the fall after the race, Deegan said, “I felt good up until that point—was chasing my teammates and trying to keep the pace. The whoops caught me off guard, and I made a mistake. Luckily, I wasn’t hurt, and I was able to get back up and finish. It’s frustrating because I know I can do better, but I’m just going to shake it off and keep pushing forward.”
Despite the disappointment of the fall, Deegan’s attitude remained positive. The 18-year-old rider is no stranger to challenges and continues to show growth as he gains
“I’m still learning, and these races are teaching me a lot,” Deegan continued. “This is a tough sport, and there are going to be ups and downs. The key is staying focused, learning from mistakes, and not letting setbacks slow me down. I’m excited to keep pushing and get back out there.”
While the fall in Heat 2 was a tough moment, it didn’t define Deegan’s night. His focus remains on improving with every race, and the experience gained will undoubtedly help him as he continues to build his Supercross career.
