The game began with the Hokies receiving the ball, but their initial drive faltered quickly as they went three-and-out. Georgia Tech seized the early advantage with a methodical 12-play, 59-yard drive that culminated in a field goal, giving them a 3-0 lead.

After a response from Georgia Tech, which included a field goal to narrow the gap to 7-6, Drones orchestrated another impressive drive. Utilizing a bit of trickery, offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen called for a reverse play that saw wide receiver Jaylin Lane throw a six-yard touchdown pass to Drones, extending the Hokies’ lead to 14-6.
Drones concluded the first half with an impressive performance, completing eight of ten passes for 77 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 12 yards. Running back Bhayshul Tuten contributed significantly with six carries for 63 yards, helping the Hokies outgain the Yellow Jackets 162-121, particularly in the second quarter.
