“Jorge Martín was just lucky to pass me I lost the front in turn 7 and I said, it’s better to finish the race then i..” -Francesco Bagnaia
Francesco Bagnaia’s impressive streak of consecutive wins came to an end at the GP of Great Britain, where he finished the race in a disappointing position.
Despite leading for several laps, the Ducati rider ultimately succumbed
In a candid interview with the official broadcast, Bagnaia revealed that his struggles were largely due to issues with the front tire. He admitted to having a tough time managing both the front and rear tires, which significantly impacted his performance.
“I was trying to do a good management of the rear tire, but then I started to lose the front,” Bagnaia explained.
“The front was dropping a bit, and when Martín overtook me, I just tried to follow him but lost the front again in turn 7. After yesterday’s DNF in the Sprint race, I decided it was better to finish the race rather than risk another retirement.”
Bagnaia’s challenge was compounded by worsening conditions in the final laps. He noted that the rear tire also became difficult to handle as the race wore on.
Despite these setbacks, he remained optimistic about the future. “In any case, I’m happy. The colder weather made it easier to manage the tires a bit better,” he said. “I hope to see a better result in the next race.”
Bagnaia’s resilience and strategic approach to handling the race’s difficulties underscore his experience and commitment as he looks to rebound in upcoming competitions.
