Marc Márquez Brags to francesco bagnaia and others about Dominates Friday Practice at Aragon GP, Sets Early Pace
The MotoGP™ paddock kicked off the Gran Premio GoPro de Aragon with an action-packed Friday morning session, where Marc Márquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) set the tone early by topping the timesheets with a blistering 1:48.289.
The eight-time World Champion was the first rider to break into the 1:48 bracket, continuing to improve his lap times as track conditions evolved, leaving his competitors chasing his pace.
Close behind Márquez was fellow Spaniard Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac Racing), who clocked in just 0.483 seconds slower after completing 13 laps. Martín’s strong performance suggests he’s ready to challenge for a top spot throughout the weekend.
The rookie sensation Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) impressed
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) showcased his late-session speed, jumping to fourth with a 1:48.952, just 0.663 seconds behind Márquez. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) marked his return to the grid with a courageous performance, finishing fifth and demonstrating his determination to make an impact.
Alex Márquez added to Gresini Racing’s strong morning by taking sixth place, edging out Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing), who finished seventh. Oliveira, who is yet to confirm his plans for 2025, showed promising pace, setting the stage for a competitive weekend.
Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) ended the session in eighth, trailing Márquez by 0.826 seconds. Ducati Lenovo Team’s Enea Bastianini, who completed the most laps in FP1, finished ninth, followed by Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing), who rounded out the top 10.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for some of the sport’s big names. Reigning World Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) struggled throughout the morning, finishing a surprising 21st with plenty of work to do. Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia Racing) also had a tough session, finishing over three seconds off the pace in 22nd position.
As the MotoGP™ field prepares for the crucial afternoon practice session, all eyes will be on who can secure a spot in Q2. The action resumes at 15:00 local time (UTC +2), where the premier class riders will continue their battle for dominance at Aragon.
