MARQUEZ statement as he drops bombshell on joining Ducati and mentions BAGNAIA after race of champions defeat
Marc Marquez to Join Factory Ducati Team in 2025: A New Chapter in MotoGP
In a significant shift for the MotoGP landscape, Marc Marquez has confirmed he will join Ducati’s factory team in 2025.
The six-time MotoGP World Champion is set to replace Enea Bastianini in a high-profile move that will pit him directly against Ducati’s current star, Francesco Bagnaia.
Marquez’s announcement comes on the heels of his impressive performance at Ducati’s Race of Champions
Despite running in fourth for most of the race, Marquez showcased his tenacity in the final laps, closing in on Ducati World Superbike rookie Nicola Bulega. Their fierce battle culminated in Bulega ending up in the gravel, while Marquez secured the final spot on the podium.
In the aftermath of the race, Marquez demonstrated sportsmanship by checking on Bulega and presenting him with a helmet as a gesture of goodwill.
Reflecting on the incident, Marquez commented, “I don’t know if I touched Nico, I just heard the noise he made when he slid. Racing is like that when you race at the limit. The overtaking was natural, I don’t know if he braked a little earlier than normal.”
Marquez’s impending move to Ducati’s factory team underscores his respect for Bagnaia, who he views as the benchmark for Ducati and the entire MotoGP grid.
Bagnaia, who recently reclaimed the lead in the MotoGP standings and celebrated his marriage, demonstrated his dominance at Misano by winning the all-Ducati race with a margin of nearly 1.5 seconds.
As Marquez prepares to join Ducati, he acknowledges the challenge ahead. “I have no problem in recognizing that Pecco is the current reference for the team and the brand,” Marquez said.
“He is an incredible rider and I come to that box to learn from him and try to get closer.”
This move marks a new chapter in Marquez’s career, as he aims to leverage his experience and learn from one of the sport’s leading talents.
The 2025 season promises to be a thrilling one with Marquez and Bagnaia headlining Ducati’s lineup.
