Matt Moss Joins Eli Tomac at CDR Yamaha for the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship
Matt Moss has officially signed with CDR Yamaha to compete in the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), completing the grid for the highly anticipated 450cc WSX class. Moss, a seasoned competitor and nine-time Australian National Motocross champion, is set to bring his remarkable speed and resilience back to the international stage.
Career Progression
Moss first entered the WSX arena in 2022, racing in the 250cc SX2 class with Bud Racing. His performance earned him a spot in the premier WSX class for the 2023 season, where he represented ClubMX at the British and Abu Dhabi GPs. His season was highlighted by a victory in Superpole at the Abu Dhabi GP, showcasing his potential among the world’s elite riders. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to injuries sustained in the Australian Supercross Championship, including a fractured vertebra and leg hematoma.
Excitement for the Upcoming Season
Reflecting on his upcoming season, Moss expressed enthusiasm for returning to the WSX circuit. “Racing internationally as part of the WSX grid was an incredible experience last season, and I’m excited to do it all over again this year,” he stated. He emphasized his admiration for WSX’s global vision and is particularly looking forward to competing at home in Australia, with two nights of action planned in Perth.
Team Dynamics
At CDR Yamaha, Moss will join forces with renowned eight-time AMA Motocross and Supercross champion Eli Tomac. This partnership not only enhances the team’s competitive edge but also signifies a collaborative effort between CDR Yamaha and Star Racing, with Tomac riding the Star Racing Yamaha YZ 450. Tomac’s previous success in the WSX—winning the inaugural GP in Cardiff as a wildcard entry—adds an exciting dimension to the team.
2024 Season Schedule
The 2024 WSX season kicks off on October 26 at BC Place in Vancouver, featuring the WSX Canadian GP. The series will then transition to the double-header WSX Australian GP on November 23-24 at HBF Park in Perth, before concluding with the season finale at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena on December 4.
With Matt Moss on the grid, the competition is set to be fierce, and fans can expect thrilling races as the best riders in the world vie for the championship title. Moss’s return not only bolsters the CDR Yamaha team but also promises to elevate the excitement of the 2024 WSX season.
