Oregon Ducks CEO Reflects on Team’s “Most Complete Effort” in Victory Over Washington*l
EUGENE, OR — Oregon Ducks CEO, Rob Mullens, praised the team’s “most complete effort” following their impressive 34-21 victory over the Washington Huskies in a pivotal Pac-12 showdown on Saturday. The Ducks delivered a dominant performance across all phases of the game, earning a key win that strengthens their position in both the conference and national rankings.
Mullens, who has overseen the Ducks’ athletic department since 2010, expressed his pride in the team’s well-rounded display. “This was, without a doubt, our most complete effort of the season,” Mullens said in a post-game interview. “Offensively, defensively, and on special teams, everyone stepped up. It was a total team win.”
Offensively, the Ducks were led by star quarterback Bo Nix, who threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Nix’s ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground kept Washington’s defense off balance. Running back Bucky Irving added 125 rushing yards, including a crucial 50-yard touchdown that helped seal the victory in the fourth quarter.
Defensively, Oregon stifled Washington’s potent offense, which had been averaging over 40 points per game heading into the contest. The Ducks’ defense, spearheaded by linebacker Jeffrey Bassa and defensive end Brandon Dorlus, pressured Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. throughout the game, limiting his time in the pocket and forcing two interceptions.
Oregon’s special teams also played a pivotal role, with kicker Camden Lewis converting all four of his field goal attempts, including a 47-yarder that extended the Ducks’ lead in the third quarter. Punter Adam Barry consistently pinned Washington deep, creating difficult field positions for the Huskies’ offense.
The win was especially significant given the high stakes of the game, with both teams ranked in the top 10 nationally. Washington, which had been undefeated prior to the loss, struggled to find rhythm against Oregon’s defense and could not recover after Oregon’s early lead. The Ducks’ offense was efficient and controlled the tempo, while the defense showed resilience in critical moments.
Mullens also commended the work of head coach Dan Lanning, who has transformed Oregon’s football program into a championship contender since his arrival in 2022. “Coach Lanning has done an incredible job preparing this team. His leadership has been essential in our success this season, and tonight was a perfect example of his vision coming to life,” Mullens said.
the stage for a possible spot in the College Football Playoff if they can maintain their momentum. As the Ducks prepare for their next game, Mullens emphasized that the team’s commitment to continuous improvement will be key.
“We’re not satisfied with just one win,” Mullens said. “We’ve got bigger goals, and we’re focused on continuing to grow and get better every week.”
The Ducks’ next challenge will be on the road against Arizona State, where they will look to build on their dominant performance and keep their championship aspirations alive.
