Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel named Big Ten offensive player, quarterback of the year
Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel is the Big Ten’s offensive player and quarterback of the year.
Gabriel, who has thrown for 3,275 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions and rushed for 175 yards and seven scores, was named Graham-George offensive player of the year and Griese-Brees quarterback of the year.
He and left tackle Josh Conerly Jr. were named first team all-Big Ten by the conference’s coaches and media. Outside linebacker Matayo Uiagalelei, who leads the Big Ten with 10.5 sacks, was a first team defensive selection by the media but not the coaches. Long snapper Luke Basso is the media’s first team selection at the position.
Running back Jordan James, receiver Tez Johnson and linebacker Bryce Boetccher are second team honorees. Johnson is also the coaches’ second team selection as a return specialist. Right tackle Ajani Cornelius, defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad are second team selections by the media and Uiagalelei is a second team pick by the coaches. Basso is a second team selection by the coaches at long snapper.
Defensive end Jordan Burch is a third team selection. Cornelius, guard Marcus Harper II and Harmon are third team picks by the coaches and tight end Terrance Ferguson is a third team selection by the media.
