Premier League Star BANNED from Driving After Admitting to Speeding SIX Times in Two Months

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been handed a six-month driving ban after admitting to a string of speeding offences, with his fastest recorded speed clocking in at 96mph. The 25-year-old appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to six separate incidents of speeding on a stretch of the A52 in Nottinghamshire.

According to the BBC, the offences occurred between December 2024 and February 2025, with Gibbs-White repeatedly caught breaking the 70mph limit on a dual carriageway between Stragglethorpe Road and Lings Bar Road in the Radcliffe-on-Trent area.

Hefty Fines and Licence Points

Gibbs-White was fined a total of £3,966 and hit with 19 penalty points on his licence—effectively triggering an automatic six-month driving disqualification. He was also ordered to pay a £1,598 victim surcharge and £110 in court costs.

The court originally imposed a fine of £6,000, but it was reduced to £666 per offence following the player’s early guilty plea.

The speeding ban is a notable blemish on a season already marred by inconsistency both on and off the pitch for the Nottingham Forest star.

Club Struggles Mirror Off-Field Turmoil

The ban comes as Forest’s once-promising Premier League campaign continues to unravel. The club, which spent much of the season in the top five and appeared poised to challenge for a Champions League place, has recently slipped to seventh following a run of poor form. Their latest setback—a 2-2 home draw against already-relegated Leicester City—exemplified their recent struggles.

Gibbs-White, a standout performer for the club this season, admitted in a post-match interview that the team has struggled under the weight of expectations.

“We put ourselves in the best position but the last three or four games haven’t been good enough,” he said. “We’ve secured European football which is incredible, but we wanted more. A few games ago, our expectation was to qualify for the Champions League and it was the same for our fans.”

Eyes on the Exit?

Now in his third season at the City Ground, Gibbs-White has emerged as one of Forest’s most valuable assets. However, with the summer transfer window approaching, speculation is growing that he could move on—particularly with Forest failing to secure elite European competition.

Whether his recent legal troubles influence that decision remains to be seen, but the midfielder was clear that the team still has unfinished business.

“It’s been a tough season, very demanding, especially when we’ve put ourselves in the positions we have. I can’t put a reason on it—fatigue? tiredness?—but we can’t make excuses. The fans deserve better.”

A Wake-Up Call?

For Gibbs-White, the driving ban may serve as a wake-up call at a pivotal moment in both his personal and professional life. With two games left to play and European qualification still offering some redemption, the midfielder’s focus now turns to ending the season on a high—albeit from the passenger seat.

As Forest continue to navigate the pressure of top-flight competition, their star man will be hoping the lessons learned off the pitch can help sharpen performances on it.
