In a recent post-race conference, motocross stars Jett Lawrence, Chase Sexton, and Eli Tomac voiced their collective concerns about the grueling length of the SuperMotocross (SMX) season.
With 31 races packed into the calendar, all three riders expressed their shared sentiment that the season is excessively long and taxing.
Jett Lawrence, known for his candidness, was particularly outspoken about the challenges presented by the
Lawrence candidly stated that without the paycheck incentive, it is doubtful that many riders would participate in the series. He suggested that reducing the number of races could enhance the appeal and exclusivity of the championship, making it more prestigious and less burdensome.
Chase Sexton echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the sheer length of the season and the physical and mental toll it takes on competitors.
He noted that only four riders, himself included, have participated in every single race of the season, underscoring the difficulty and commitment required to maintain such a rigorous schedule.
Eli Tomac also weighed in, aligning with Lawrence and Sexton’s views. Tomac’s comments reflected a broader consensus among riders that the season’s length is challenging and may detract from the overall enjoyment and competitiveness of the series.
The consensus among these top riders points to a need for reevaluating the structure of the SMX season.
