Chase Elliott, the reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion, recently marked his remarkable achievement with a special celebration in his hometown of Dawsonville, Georgia.
The event took place at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, a fitting venue that pays tribute to the rich history of racing in the state.
Elliott, who won the Cup Series title in 2020, expressed his deep pride in representing Dawsonville. “I think the biggest thing I can do is just appreciate the area and appreciate the people that support me,” he said.
“I feel like I always try to do that.” He noted that while he might not change his approach this year, his respect for his supporters remains unwavering.

Highlights of the display include a focus on his impressive 2020 season, where he secured five points-paying victories and clinched both the Martinsville Speedway race and the Championship 4 race at Phoenix Raceway.
Elliott’s 2020 triumph made him the third-youngest Cup Series champion in history. He joined his father, Bill Elliott, as the only father-son duo to win a NASCAR championship and the Most Popular Driver award in the same year.
“The Georgia Racing Hall of Fame is way more than Dad and I,” Elliott remarked. “There’s a lot here, and a lot of things that people should see.” He encouraged visitors to explore the hall and learn about other Georgia drivers with significant ties to NASCAR.
Elliott emphasized the passion for racing that exists in Dawsonville and the broader state of Georgia, underscoring the importance of supporting local racing heritage.
The celebration included the presentation of Elliott’s championship ring, a gold 1:12 scale diecast of his championship-winning car, and a notable announcement: February 9, 2021, will be officially recognized as Chase Elliott Day in Georgia.
Elliott humorously noted, “I guess if I were to get a speeding ticket, that would be the day to do it.” He expressed his gratitude for the state’s ongoing support for him and his family.
Despite his rising fame, Elliott remains deeply connected to his hometown. He considers himself fortunate to live in Dawsonville while pursuing a successful racing career. “For me, I’m proud to be from here,” he said.
“That pride carries with you, for sure.” Elliott emphasized the importance of staying connected to one’s roots, reflecting on how home will always hold a special place, whether in Georgia or elsewhere.
Elliott’s continued dedication to his hometown and his achievements on the track demonstrate his commitment to honoring his origins while excelling in his sport. The festivities in Dawsonville served as a heartfelt celebration of his success and the enduring support of his community.
