Statement from Francesco Bagnaia as he Secures Third on the Grid at Aragon GP, Aims to Close Gap on Marc Márquez
Francesco Bagnaia secured third place on the grid for the MotoGP Aragon GP during a challenging qualifying session.
The Ducati rider finished behind Marc Márquez and Pedro Acosta, trailing the pole position by over eight-tenths of a second and missing out on the second spot by a mere two-thousandths of a second.
In a post-qualifying interview, Bagnaia reflected on the difficulties
“It was a very tough morning,” Bagnaia admitted. “Honestly, the conditions weren’t the best, and we did the maximum we could.
But we are still missing something compared to Marc; he’s doing different lines, different things, because taking 0.8s in a qualifying is something unbelievable. We will check, understand, and if it will be possible to do a step, we will do it.”
As Bagnaia prepares for Sunday’s race, he is focused on defending his championship lead. He currently holds a slender five-point advantage over Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who experienced a setback with a crash in qualifying and will start from fourth place on the grid.
The Aragon GP promises to be a pivotal race, with Bagnaia aiming not only to maintain his lead in the championship but also to close the gap to Márquez, who has shown formidable speed this weekend.
Fans will be eagerly watching to see if Bagnaia can make the necessary adjustments and challenge for victory on race day.
