The NASCAR Clash at the Coliseum saw another chapter in the ongoing feud between Joey Logano and Ty Gibbs.

The race, which was ultimately won by polesitter Denny Hamlin, featured a dramatic finish as Hamlin took

the lead late for a victory in the non-points event. Logano and Gibbs were both vying for the win when the controversy unfolded.

Specifically, the incident revolved around a restart with 10 laps remaining, where Gibbs’ aggressive maneuvering disrupted Logano’s momentum.

Gibbs, who led for nearly 18 laps of the 150-lap race, spun out and wrecked with just one lap to go. The aftermath of the race saw Logano expressing frustration over what he perceived as Gibbs’ overly aggressive driving, which he felt had unfairly impacted his chances of winning.

In a post-race interview, Gibbs addressed the incident, suggesting that Logano’s anger was misplaced.

“He’s just mad that I ran him up,” Gibbs said, adding that the aggressive racing was a natural part of the end-of-race dynamics. Gibbs pointed out that Logano was also affected by other drivers, including Ryan Blaney, who had pushed him out of the way. “It’s a hard race at the end.

This place is really hard to get your tires warm once the caution comes out. I just got in there deep… and then we just all kind of got tangled up after that.”

The clash at the Coliseum is the latest episode in a protracted rivalry between Gibbs and Logano. The tension between the two drivers has been evident for some time, with their conflicts often extending beyond the track.

Last season, Hamlin played a role in mediating between the two after a heated exchange during a race at Martinsville. Hamlin, who had reached out to Logano to discuss the situation, acknowledged the ongoing feud, stating that it stemmed from their previous encounters.

“I think Ty has a legitimate argument, and upon talking to Joey about this a little bit, I was kind of the middle man, listening to his side and Ty’s side,” Hamlin noted on his Actions Detrimental podcast.
