This is what Bayless has to say on 49ers
The Super Bowl 58 debacle fueled skepticism from one controversial media outlet, showing a lack of faith in two key franchise figures. Skip Bayless is among those questioning quarterback Brock Purdy and his abilities, which is not new information. He also questions the effectiveness of head coach Kyle Shanahan
Bayless says he’s confident the Kansas City Chiefs can beat the 49ers thanks to the great coaching of Andy Reid and the extraordinary talent of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Steve Spagnuolo runs the Chiefsand#039; defense, Bayless believes the outcome was inevitable.
and sorry. More than ever, I don’t believe in Kyle Shanahan, and I don’t believe in Brock Purdy, “Bayless said on his FOX Sports podcast. “And I like both. Seriously, I believe from the bottom of my heart that they are both really good people. I have never heard a bad word about Kyle Shanahan. [Lil] Wayne loves him. [Shanahan] named his son (Carter) Wayne. Richard Sherman, [with whom] I work Undisputed”. just love him and swear by his name and never by him.
“And the more I listened to Brock Purdy leading up to Super Bowl week, the more I liked him off the field. It’s great that he shares his faith. I share his faith. I just don’t believe in him as a high-level Super Bowl-winning quarterback. I think good is always very good, but never great. It’s gut”
Purdy, the last pick in the 2022 draft, was a major NFL success story. Originally buried 49ers on the depth chart, he took advantage of his rookie season after two quarterbacks were injured and was more impressive than anyone could have predicted.
Shanahan and the 49ers trusted Purdy so much that he was announced as the starting quarterback in 2023, despite undergoing major surgery on his throwing hand. A year after Purdy led San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game, he led the team to the Super Bowl.
But a heartbreaking overtime loss has Bayless questioning both the coach and the quarterback.
Bayless said “And finally Andy Reid and Spags just put Kyle and [former 49ers defensive coordinator] Steve Wilks in the ring.
Shanahan’s doubters have been strong since the recent loss, while Purdy has faced skepticism since his first NFL start. Critics saw him as a playmaker who tried to undermine his accomplishments, which included setting the 49ers’ single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards and becoming an MVP finalist.
Despite the setback, Shanahan, Purdy and the 49ers are looking to rebound and make another run at the Super Bowl in 2024.
