Update- Roger Federer picks his favorite Golden State Warriors
Roger Federer recently praised Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson for their achievements and immeasurable impact on the sports culture of San Francisco.
The Swiss master is currently in San Francisco, USA to introduce the city as the seventh host . Laver Cup. The iconic Chase Center, home of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, will host the event from 7 to 9 p.m. September 2025.
In a conversation with NBC Bay Area shortly after the announcement, interviewer Ginger Conejero Saab questioned Federer. on who his favorite player was on the Golden State Warriors.
“I mean, Curry, Klay Thompson, I think they were great,” Federer told NBC.

The former world no. spoke about time he met the Warriors in Shanghai in 2018 and as coach Steve Kerr put it when he was asked to give a pep talk to the team.
“I met the team in Shanghai in 2018 when they were on tour. We played in a tournament not far away, so I drove fast arena and saw the team and then Steve Kerr said to me, “Hey, can you talk to the team and motivate them” how good. don’t wait for it. you know!” Federer said.
The Swiss admitted he had no idea what he was saying to the team at the time.
“I just talked to them and told them what was on my mind at the time. I have no idea what I said.., but hopefully it helped them. There was a time when they were doing pretty well and they won after that, so I probably didn’t say anything bad,” Federer added.

Inn, a basketball fan, Federer also revealed that he is preparing for Saturday 9 for the Golden State Warriors game against the San Antonio Spurs in March.
“I hope to see some guys. I’m a big basketball fan and I’m very, very excited to go to the game tomorrow,” Federer said. “It’s on my bucket list, let’s go see the Warriors.”

Roger Federer reiterated the enthusiasm of his manager and Laver Cup President Tony Godsick to bring the event to sports fans in and around San Francisco.
” For Fans from the Bay Area love how the Laver Cup brings the world’s best players together as teammates. They see them put aside their rivalries and sit together on the court to cheer each other on. There’s no other place like it,” Federer said.
He paid tribute to the Chase Center, describing the venue as one of the most spectacular he’s ever seen.
“Many tennis players themselves are NBA fans. They are excited to perform for the first time in one of the grandest arenas in the world and the home of the Warriors,” he continued.
