Visma reports that Wout van Aert has made the decision not to race 2024-2025 Cyclocross World Championships
This has been reported this morning by Het Laatste Nieuws, who are present at the Team Visma | Lease a Bike camp. Thus, the Belgian’s goal is to be in top form for the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, always with his mind set on finally getting the long-awaited Monuments that are missing from his palmarès. He will race his last cross in Maasmechelen on January 25, so he will have 10 weeks to prepare well for Flanders – which should include an altitude training camp, and possible a similar schedule to last year where he raced the Opening Weekend and then skipped Paris-Nice/Tirreno-Adriatico.

It’s the same approach he had in 2024 with which he hoped to arrive in top form: he doesn’t want anything to disturb his planning on the road. Would the plan have worked for Van Aert in 2024 if he hadn’t crashed at Dwars door Vlaanderen? Obviously we’ll never know, but the Belgian rider faces 2025 with the same goals as last season and we imagine he’ll race Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne and Dwars Door Vlaanderen itself again before tackling his two main objectives:
