‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Debuts on Netflix With a Split Release and Here’s Everything You Need to Know

Netflix has officially revived the creepy, kooky, and wildly popular world of Nevermore Academy as Wednesday returned with its second season on August 6, 2025. Following nearly three years of anticipation, Jenna Ortega is back as the deadpan teen sleuth in a new installment that promises more psychic powers, darker secrets, and a deeper dive into the Addams Family’s twisted legacy.

Split-Season Strategy: 4 Episodes Now, 4 in September

In a departure from Netflix’s usual binge-watch drop, Season 2 of Wednesday is split into two parts, a strategy that keeps fans coming back for more. The first four episodes premiered on August 6, while the remaining four will debut on September 3, 2025 on, conveniently, another Wednesday.

Here’s a full breakdown of the release schedule and episode titles so far:

Wednesday Season 2: Part 1 (Released August 6)

  1. Here We Woe Again

  2. It’s My Party and I’ll Woe If I Want To

  3. Dance the Night a Woe

  4. Now You See Me, Now You Woe

Wednesday Season 2: Part 2 (Coming September 3)

  1. Let Me Woe You Again

  2. The Final Woe Down: Part 1

  3. The Final Woe Down: Part 2

  4. The Final Woe Down: Part 3

All episodes are released globally at 3 AM ET / 12 AM PT.

The Cast: Familiar Faces and Fresh Focus

Jenna Ortega leads the ensemble once again with her now-iconic portrayal of Wednesday Addams. Season 2 sees several cast members promoted to series regulars, including:

  • Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams

  • Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams

  • Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams

  • Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago

Also returning are Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger), and Georgie Farmer (Ajax).
Guest appearances include Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester and Jamie McShane as Sheriff Galpin.

A Big Season With Even Bigger Reviews

Early reactions to Wednesday Season 2 have been largely positive, with many critics noting improvements in storytelling and character depth. The show currently holds an 82% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, surpassing Season 1’s 73%.

Critics Praise:

  • Jenna Ortega’s magnetic performance

  • A deeper look into the Addams family dynamic

  • Elevated production design and gothic flair

  • Streamlined storytelling with higher stakes

Standout Reviews:

“Still, it’s a fun ride. Worth it just to watch Steve Buscemi groove to ‘Dancing In The Dark’.” – Ben Travis, Empire Magazine.

“[Ortega’s] remarkable stage presence imbues the prickly teenager with enough humanity to anchor the show’s horror and clichés.” – Lili Loofbourow, Washington Post.

“The story this time is far more streamlined and, quite honestly, interesting.” – Kelly Lawler, USA Today

But not all reviews were glowing.
Some critics called out subplot overload and uneven pacing, particularly in the first few episodes of Part 1.

Season 3 Confirmed!

Fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Netflix renewed Wednesday for a third season on July 23, 2025, days ahead of Season 2’s premiere.

While no release date has been announced, showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar confirmed the next chapter will dive even deeper into Wednesday’s twisted world.

“We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday,” Gough told Tudum.
“We’ll be seeing more Addams Family members and uncovering more family secrets in Season 3.”

Final Thoughts: The Woes Just Keep Coming

After an extended wait, Wednesday Season 2 returns with everything fans loved from its debut — deadpan humour, horror with a wink, and supernatural suspense — but this time, with more Addams Family intrigue and tighter plotlines. As Wednesday uncovers more secrets from Nevermore Academy and her own bloodline, the show continues to prove why it’s one of Netflix’s biggest hits.

With Part 2 still to come and a third season on the way, fans have plenty of reason to keep their Wednesdays free.
