A’ja Wilson Marks 28th Birthday in Paris Amidst Team USA’s Olympic Pursuit
WNBA star A’ja Wilson celebrated her 28th birthday in Paris, as the US women’s basketball team continued their pursuit of gold at the Olympics.
During a practice session on Thursday, Wilson was serenaded by her teammates with Stevie Wonder’s rendition of ‘
Happy Birthday,’ which was captured in a video posted by USA Basketball on X. The clip shows Wilson joyfully dancing as her teammates sing to her.
Wilson later shared a snapshot on her Instagram Story featuring an engraved bottle of Dom Perignon with her initials, and another photo of the Eiffel Tower, simply captioned “28.”
The birthday celebration followed Team USA’s impressive 88-74 victory over Nigeria, where Wilson contributed significantly with 20 points.
The team is now preparing to face Australia in the semifinals, continuing their quest for the gold medal.
Earlier in the Games, the team faced some controversy when Caitlin Clark, a rising star in the WNBA, was controversially left off the Olympic roster.
Clark’s absence was noted by fans, and a particularly vocal supporter trolled the American team with a sign during their game against Japan. Despite the fan’s taunt, Team USA secured a decisive 102-76 win.
As the Olympics progress, all eyes will be on Wilson and her teammates as they aim to capture the coveted gold medal while navigating the high-stakes atmosphere of international competition.
